her future and decide how and by whom his or her future affairs will be handled \u2013 when he or she reaches a state of cognitive impairment \u2013 an event that can occur without any warning such as : a serious accident, illness, dementia, etc.<\/p><p>This is a legal document that puts a person&#039;s will at the center \u2013 deciding in advance what his life will look like when he can no longer
